OEM ORDERING GUIDE
What affects waterproof tape MOQ and lead time?
Material batches, roll dimensions, private-label packaging and approvals all affect the order minimum and schedule. Here is what to clarify before comparing supplier quotations.
There can be more than one minimum order quantity.
A waterproof tape order can have separate minimums for the adhesive batch, facing material, slitting or winding run, and printed packaging. The practical MOQ depends on the combination you select, not only on the finished product name.
Ask whether an MOQ applies per construction, per width, per color, per printed design or to the order as a whole. Do not assume that several sizes can be combined to meet one minimum.
Five choices that change the quotation.
| Choice | Why it matters | Question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Facing and adhesive | An existing material route and a newly sourced film or formulation require different preparation. | Which materials are available, and which must be ordered or developed? |
| Width and length | Slitting yield, roll diameter and winding setup change with the dimensions. | Can sizes share a production batch? What minimum applies to each? |
| Color and finish | A special film, color or surface treatment may have its own material minimum. | Does this option require a dedicated material purchase? |
| Private-label packaging | Printed boxes, cores or liners can have minimums separate from the tape. | Can an initial order use a label on an existing pack? |
| Testing and approvals | New sample rounds or external testing add steps before production release. | Which approvals must be complete before the production clock starts? |
Separate four parts of the schedule.
- Sample preparation: selecting or making the sample, followed by courier transit.
- Approval and material preparation: confirming construction, test results, artwork and materials.
- Production and release: manufacturing, packing, inspection and any agreed corrections.
- Delivery: booking, export handling, international transit and destination clearance.
Some steps can overlap; others depend on a previous approval. Ask the supplier to state both the duration and its starting condition. “After approval” should identify the approvals required, including packaging, and any agreed payment or material conditions.
A production lead time is not an arrival date. For a fixed launch, work backward from the required delivery date and agree the sample, artwork and order deadlines with the supplier.
Ways to simplify a first order.
Ask about an existing construction, fewer widths, one facing color and label-based packaging. These choices may reduce setup or material requirements. Compare the total cost, including extra handling and freight, before deciding that a smaller MOQ is the better offer.
If printed packaging must be ordered above the tape quantity, agree who pays for the balance, who holds it and whether it can be used for repeat orders. Get the arrangement in writing before approving the artwork.
What Hendur needs to check an order.
Send the product application, target country, desired construction or reference sample, roll dimensions, quantity by size, packaging idea and required delivery timing. If some details are undecided, start with the application and a photo.
Hendur’s published MOQ for joist tape, aluminum flashing tape and white PVDF-faced RV repair tape is 1,000 m². For each tape range, different standard sizes within the same adhesive type can be combined to meet this MOQ; special custom requirements are discussed separately. Typical standard production is 7–15 days; customized requirements are scheduled individually. Shipping transit is additional. Confirm print requirements and the schedule in your quotation.
Sample preparation and courier arrangements are confirmed separately. A production lead time does not describe how quickly a sample will arrive.
